LAMBERT MORGAN HORSES
The Quietude Stud has produced 313 clean-blooded foundation Lambert Morgan Horses during the last forty-three years.
We have preserved this ancient and rare Morgan family
for the future of the breed. There are only two pure families left in the Morgan breed today, the Lamberts and the Woodburys
.

"Such a rich treasure of bloodlines you have! It is always a treat to go to your page and compare your horses, I think you have achieved a more consistent type that is true to the rare old Morgan bloodlines than most other breeding programs combined - yet they are all so unique and each has their own special beauty!

And all are marked not only as clearly Lambert but strongly bear Criterion's stamp."

CARESS of QUIETUDE (Criterion x Caven-Glo Ballerina) 1981 - 2017

Caress left us shortly before her 36th birthday. We, Shannon, Gary Pritt a very old friend of hers and myself were with her for many peaceful last hours until she quietly slipped away. Hers was a life well lived. She filledl my ilfe as a companion and trusted friend.

FAREWELLS FOR THE BELOVED CARESS
What a wonderful ambassador for the family Caress was. She introduced many people to Lamberts and more than one novice rider to the Lamberts, Morgan's and trail riding. My husband rode her on the trails on one of our early visits to Quietude,  and I remember Steve Giberti getting to ride an involuntary, but quiet canter down Quietude lane on Caress. She was the first Lambert I ever rode at Quietude as Susan and I went on a trail ride together back in the mid 90s. And how she was Susan's physical therapist after Susan's accident in the cave by standing quietly for Susan to mount and carrying her gently down the lane. May she run free May she run free with her Lambert kin now.
Dawn Wagstaff MI

I read with great sadness, and tears now welling up in my eyes, that Caress has now left us.  She was THE BEST intro to Lamberts many of us could have had.  The depth of heart she had as she charge
d alongside the much younger horses out trotting them, the power you could FEEL well into her late 20 year old body! Caress ROCKED 'em!  The pain in my heart is great.Rest well lovely Caress!  You were so LOVED by SO many!
Patti Keeler IL

I have a vivid memory of Caress as she had yet another novice rider up on her sturdy back. She endured my plopping down in the saddle, just another day at the office for her. She was carefully walking on the side of the road where it was softer than the gravel. She was taking very good care of me....we had a nice ride over the pastures up the hills through the gates and into the forest. A nice soft rain was falling as we ventured into the herd of cows. At that critical point where the trail turned ever so slightly back towards Quietude my nice trusted Caress, grandmare to our Eagle, took off like Secretariat out of the starting gate! WHAT?! Holy $h!+ Sherlock! Over the wet hills and up the paved rode we were at a full gallop. Terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. She went just fast enough to be a blur and not too fast to make me fall off. We got back to the red barn safe and sound...and about a light year before the rest of the gang....and in case you are wondering, it's the last time I was on a horse.....It was the best ride anyone could ask for and I went out on top.
Steve Giberti MA - novice

Hi Susan, I just learned of Caress' passing and wanted to send you a note with the rememberence of what a wonderful, fun mare she was.  Losing them is hard, but for Caress, she left such a lasting impression of joy for not only me, but everyone else who visited Quietude and especially had the privilege of a ride on Caress. It's hard to imagine now, but I rode Caress the second time I visited you and Shannon , back around 1995, (almost 22 years ago now) . You and I went on a trail ride and she was my mount, and I remember her being fun,  tested me a little to see what she could do, and then carried me surefooted and happily on our ride. I can still remember Steve Giberti cantering quietly down your lane on Caress, although he hadn't asked nor had Caress asked him if that's what he wanted to do. Caress was Bill's mount for the one and only time he rode on the trails with us many years ago, I still tell other's the story of Bill asking Caress' name and Shannon telling him "Catapult". She was a wonderful example of the Lambert family and her progeny and theirs keep her spirit with us.
We all can feel proud and honored that we had a chance to know her.
Dawn Wagstaff

Dawn you put it so well. I still laugh when I think of Steve telling the story of he and Caress on Mary's porch at the camp. I have it on video here somewhere. She was a horse that could fit every need. She's the only horse I believe I ever rode when visiting Quietude.
She will be missed. What a lady!
Ahhh Steve I remember that time well as I sit here laughing at her antics with you and also remembering she was the? first Lambert my granddaughter Kalie ever rode. Everyone was safe on good ole Caress. She was 3 times a Lady like the song. Everyone that knew her had a story to tell. Joyce Napotnik PA / We will all mis her she was a great one and gave so much! I know Susan will miss her terribly. Wow 36 years of age!

I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful boy Brio is and how much fun I am having with him.  I am just so proud of him.  He is quite the snuggler with me.  He may fusson the ground, but as soon as I put my foot in the stirrup, he is perfect. I had an emergency double bypass in late 2015 which kept me out of the saddle for some time, but I am back and loving him every second. Of course, I thought you would like to see him grown up, so here he is. I have one question.  One of the pics shows him with "dumbo ears".  He puts his ears in a horizontal position when he is thinking, amusing us all. Our fondest regards to you both Lynn. Vito, and Brio

QUIETUDE SENECA ROCKS

THE START OF THE 2017 DRESSAGE SHOWS FOR QUIETUDE SENECA ROCKS

Susan, Seneca's first show of the season was a great success!  First of all, he was measured for his permanent pony card now that he is eight years old.  He measured 146.5 centimeters -- under the 148 centimeter limit!  I am delighted about that.

At Dressage in the Sandhills, Seneca showed in four classes and got four qualifying scores for the USEF Regional Championships.  In Second Level, test 3, he earned a 66.95% for first place in a class of eight horses and a 66.59% for a third in eight horses.  In his Musical Freestyle, he earned 68.5% and second of eight.  In his first class at Third Level, he earned a good 64.1% for another third place of eight.  Very solid performance, and Elaine says he is capable of much better.  Many folks were talking about "that little Morgan"  They announce his breed and his breeders at each class. He also earned his Bronze Medallion. Elaine Hayes, you and that pony are a powerful team! Susan Hanley, thanks to you and Shannon for breeding this special boy for me.'

his show career! Proud to have qualified for Nationa ls and looking forward to next year.

LAMBERTS DO NOT DISCRIMINATE BETWEEN MAN OR BEAST--EVERYONE IS A GOOD FRIEND
QUIETUDE GOLDEN EAGLE & QUIETUDE RAINELLE
ARE ALL PART OF BERNIE'S PACK

We have a new golden retriever puppy, Bernie, that we picked up in PA last March. He's grown into an 80 pound beast. Anyway he's always thought Eagle and Rainelle were part of HIS pack. He wanders into the paddock and hangs out with the horses. I think they believe he's a Lambert. Yesterday they were grooming him. He just sat there enjoying it. Two on one for about 20 minutes. He's big enough now that the horses think he's part of THEIR herd. He will just sit there as content as can be while they groom and lick him. Steve Giberti  MA

Dante is perfect—just perfect for Ellen—we have so much fun on our rides. . Julie Daley OH
Ellen said you will see the Dante pictures and wonder why you gelded him. He really has matured into such a beautiful horse; but then all of your horses are equally beautiful. She is riding him on the trail at least four days a week now. Dante found a great home with Ellen and Ellen found a great horse in Dante.

QUIETUDE DARIUS

Adored, and trusted with little Josephine, by Penny Busher.

I wanted to tell you of recent events…..this last week, I asked a friend who drives and trains Morgans to help me with taking two and a half year old ‘Miss Josephine’ for a cart ride with Darius pulling the cart!! It was awesome! I sat in the seat next to Tim and Jo sat on my lap. She smiled and laughed, asked questions and thoroughly was taking in the whole experience!!
I have bought a beautiful (Amish built) cart for him with a full handmade harness! Darius is confident and happy….he has learned many new skills and is a confident Morgan Horse in both riding and driving. I hope and pray that this message reaches you so that you know of his health, training and good fortune! You and Shannon gave me the opportunity to make my childhood dream of having a horse of my own come true. I thank you both, from the bottom of my grateful heart! My love to you both, Penny

THE ANCIENT MORGAN LOOK LIVES ON

THE ORIGIN OF THE LAMBERT FAMILY

During the 1800's the
Lambert family was the most respected, well known and admired Morgan family in existence. During the 1900's it would have disappeared but for J.C. Brunk who rescued it from extinction. Then came Francis Bryant who continued Mr. Brunk's Lambert breeding program. Now, the Lambert family represents a history of some hundred years of diligent breeding by Brunk, Bryant and the Hanleys
"Brenda Tippin noted Morgan Historian.

HEWING TO THE LINE

"Criterion reminded one hauntingly of the ancient woodcuts of his famous ancestors, old Justin and Sherman in particular. His bearing was regal, confidant, commanding. His form was muscular, smoothly-rounded, each part in perfectly-balanced proportion. When in motion he was arresting, exhibiting spectacular extension at the trot, displaying daunting power as he drove forward off his hocks, mesmerizing onlookers as he floated over the ground."

HISTORICAL DESCRIPTION OF DANIEL LAMBERT
Written in 1911 by Charles H. Willamson VT under oath.

I remember Daniel Lambert very well;—saw him when he died; he would stand about 15 hands, and he looked quite big when harnessed; would weigh about 1000,—would have to be pretty fat to weigh much more than that; he had fine style and beauty and was a square trotter; he founded a distinct family that would run all the way from 14.1 to 15 hands; they were horses of substance and you would think they were all trotters; were as good gaited as you could pick out; I don’t know that I ever saw a pacer of the old Black Hawk breed; I don’t remember any Morgan horses that were pacers, they were all trotters.
Speaking of all these horses, their enduring road qualities were good; you never could drive them so far in one day but what you could get them back the next; the Lamberts have shown at fairs all through the Valley, and always have carried off the blue ribbon.

Read the original oath written more than 100 years ago.

JUBILEE KING
1949 AD FOR JUBILEE KING
The Morgan Horse Magazine 1949 Home of the "Aristocrat of Morgans" JUBILEE KING 7570 and his beautiful son and grandson JUBILEE'S COURAGE 8983 and SPRINGFIELD 8421 These stallions give the discriminating mare owner a golden opportunity in proven excellence of type, substance with quality, stamina, soundness, very desirable bloodlines and true Morgan beauty. We are now offering for sale several excellent 1949 weanlings for fall delivery. One of these is a double grandson of Jubilee King. Springfield, VT
JUBILEE KING needs no introduction as he is noted throughout the country, having been used at stud in the West for so many years and being the sire of so many "pretty" Morgans, most of them with flaxen mane and tail. KING knew he was on exhibition and when led out by Mr. Wyma n took his place on the bank overlooking the rivers and almost said "Here I am." Next came SPRINGFIELD, who was raised from a colt by Mrs. Bryant. He is sired by Lippitt Sam by Ashbrook and out of Paragraph. He is a grandson of Jubilee King. A young son of King, named JUBILEE'S COURAGE, who is coming five, presented a beautiful picture of a Morgan. He has the flaxen mane and tail. His dam is Townshend Lass by John A . Darling.
